Want the Herberger Institute to share something on social media?

Do you have something you want shared on social media? The first place to start is with your unit communications liaison. They can share from the unit’s primary social media accounts and tag Herberger Institute so we can amplify the message. They can also submit a project request to ask the Herberger Institute to share from our social media accounts.

Launching a new social media channel or closing an inactive account

Are you interested in launching a new social media channel?

Before launching a social media account that is branded with a unit in the Herberger Institute, you will need to fill out the new social media account request form

In general, we do not recommend that you create separate accounts for individual programs or events within a unit. (You’ll get better reach and access to a larger audience if you utilize the primary unit account). Connect with
your communications liaison for more information on your school or unit primary social media accounts.

Please review the ASU Brand Guide’s
Getting started with social page and ASU social media guidelines page before filling this out – you will find more details and examples on how to answer these questions. Then, work with your unit communications liaison to submit a project request for a new social media channel.

Submit a project request (Once we receive the request, we will respond with additional questions you will need to answer).

Do you have an inactive account you need to close but cannot access?

If the inactive email associated with the account is an asu.edu address, you might be able to work with Herberger Institute IT to access the inbox where the email is being sent. Typically, Enterprise Tech will not grant direct access to someone else’s inbox. However, if you provide them with the email address, they can forward the email to an address you have access to. From there, you can use the verification code to update the email address associated with the account, ensuring you won’t encounter this issue in the future.

Hootsuite Enterprise

ASU has a limited amount of ASU Hootsuite Enterprise licenses for social media management. These licenses are reserved for to level schools and colleges – as a college, the Herberger Institute does have a license to manage our primary accounts, but schools, units, programs and the art museum within the Herberger Institute do not have a reserved license. However, you are able to purchase a license to join the ASU Hootsuite Enterprise system, where you will have access to the ASU social media content library and assets. If you’re interested in purchasing a license, email Monica Ballesteros, Social Media Manager Senior, Enterprise Brand Strategy and Management, at monica.ballesteros@asu.edu.

If you’re looking for a free publishing platform, consider Social Weaver. It has a free option that allows up to 5 accounts and 30 posts per month. There is only one user allowed but if you use a general email you could share login. See some other options (info gathered September 2023).
